It was a good day to check out some new cars and cars not usually at Bracket Meetings, as well as a DYO for bracket racers. One car I was looking forward to seeing was Mat Grubisa’s 70 1/2 Camaro (Central Coast Racer) and I was not disappointed. It is a great looking car from every angle and goes as good as it looks with a best of 7.013 @ 205MPH. Mat won the Outlaw 10.5 class, he was consistent and fast all day.
Craig Warren in the DYO bracket usually runs in Super Street and is limited to 11.00 secs, since changing from AVGAS to Powerplus 100+he has had to de-tune his car to stay above 11.00. Saturday gave him the chance to put our fuel to the test as he could run under 11.00 secs without affecting his qualifying. After adjusting tune he ran a best of 10.747 @ 121 MPH which is over 2 tenths better than his cars previous best time on AVGAS, with only a fuel change! Unfortunately Craig lost Round 2 after accidently accepting the dial-in at 10.08 instead of 10.80, another lesson learnt.
