The Torana’s final tune up was completed last Wednesday for the Snowy Mountains 1000. The Methanol injection was gone and we were back to petrol with a carburetor and street tyres fitted, ready to head up to Cooma on Friday the 21st November. After not being ready last year and having to run the old Chevy it was nice to be organised and ready to put the Torana to the test.
The Torana ran sweet all day and ended up being the fastest (254.3km/hr) and also the quickest (20.64sec) naturally aspirated car at the event, I was not really expecting that.
I must thank my mate Al who has helped me get the engine sorted and tuned (I watched and did what he told me) and EF Composites for all their efforts with the unusual front, which now looks good and works great. The car was rock solid and stable all day.
Also my ever reliable mates Scott and Steve who help work on the car whenever it’s needed and also crew wherever we go to race – Gunnedah drags are next on the 6/7th Dec.
Lastly thanks very much to MJD Photography and MB Photo for taking such great action shots!
Looking forward to going even faster next year.
