Saturday 13/04/2013 – Sydney Dragway
A big field of entries with a 9am start got us on the way around 5am to set up with plenty of time for breakfast and a plug change in both cars.
Methanol – We replaced the old distributor and coil with a magneto in the Torana and gained .15 seconds and 8mph with a best of 10.31 seconds @ 132mph, which is is best to date. It ran consistently between 10.31 to 10.36 in all 5 runs so we now have a good race package but need some luck. Another narrow loss in Round 2 to Michael Little by .006 at the finish.
E85 – Scott Cousins ran his Datsun in Top Sportsman with him also doing a PB of 7.478 seconds @ 187.44mph, thanks to a good tune/set-up by Dom and the guys at Tony Rigoli Performance. A red light in the semi finals ended Scott’s day but a great effort all the same.
102+ – Steve Dyson ran consistently in the Panelvan with only a bad dial-in time choice in Round 2, costing him against Carl ‘Chevy’ Taylor.
102+ – Craig Warren ‘SSS Racing’ stepped up to Super Sedan and ran his best time to date having sorted a few carby problems running 10.64 seconds. Unfortunately after 3yrs of reliable service his 383 engine let go in Round 2, so to continue his Super Street National campaign at the Nitro’s in a couple of weeks he will run our Panelvan, to give him a chance to get his car back on the track.
106+ – Al Rawson’s Hot Rod has now got consistency, running 3 x 9.7 seconds in qualifying. However a tyre pressure issue saw him wheel spin off the line and at the first shift, costing him badly running 10.3 seconds.
All in all a day of fine weather, good racing and big fields. You will see us all back for Round 3.
