BRIERLEY BROTHERS RACE REPORT

Mitch & Josh Brierley Race Report
7th & 8th September 2013
Round 11 & 12 of the Yamaha Australian Offroad Championship
Round 5 & 6 of the NSW Junior Sprint & Cross Country Series

Howdy All,

Well the final weekends racing of the National and State off roads has passed. Dungog Motorcycle Club staged a fantastic event as usual in the very dry and dusty conditions. The pit area looked amazing with most manufacturers represented except for Kawasaki? Mitch and Josh had been training hard leading up to the final rounds and the hard work was rewarded.

The first round on Saturday was a sprint format doing 7 sprints over the day. The sprint loop was about 5km’s long in a great mix of grass track and steep single trail riding. Mitch and Josh both had the new 2014 KX85’s flying from the start and were never challenged with Mitch taking 1st and Josh taking 2nd for the day in the J1 class.

The second round on Sunday was a Sprint format also. Again a challenging 5-6km loop had the guys riding through tough conditions following the Pro classes using the loop the day before. Close racing all day had Mitch and Josh seconds apart on each lap. At the end of the day it was Josh that took the win with Mitch in a close 2nd.

The all new 2014 KX85’s looked great and attracted a heap of interest from all. The claimed power increases are definitely on the mark with the boys both loving the feel and power of the new machines and the results reflect this.

A big thanks to Bikebiz Kawasaki, Keith and Dan for their support so far this year. The all new 2014 KX 85’s went without a problem. Pirelli tyres, Motul oils, Hiflofiltro filters and RK Chains all made the day trouble free. Some new EKS goggles supplied from Bikebiz had vision perfect in the dusty conditions. Some tweaking of the suspension by Nick Dole at Teknik Motorsport definitely helped the results in the rough conditions also. Powerplus Racing Fuels 99 had the bikes crisp and clean as ever.

The weekend ended with the Yamaha Australian Offroad Championship presentation at Dungog RSL on Sunday night. For the second year running Mitch took 1st and Josh took 2nd in the J1 class for a great years results.

Next year will see the boys step up to the J2 big wheel class in the Australian Championship where they hope to continue their winning form and represent all that support them in the sport that they love.

We look forward to the final rounds of the NSW Junior Enduro Championships in Kyogle, Northern NSW on the 19th & 20th October where they again hope to wrap up 1st and 2nd in the championship.

Thanks.
Mitch #524 and Josh #523
