NSW CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – RD 5 – SYDNEY DRAGWAY

Sydney Dragway – Eastern Creek, NSW 2766
13th July 2013

Arriving early it was overcast and cold but a coffee with a bacon and egg roll cooked to perfection by Brad got us warmed up. Steve was having the day off with the pano as his back is playing up. I was in the Torana, Al Rawson in his Hot Rod,  while Al Ostey gave the Porsche driving duties to Paul Galea.

My day came to an end in Round 1, despite a reaction time of .07 and ET of 10.45 on a 10.40 dial in. Robert Chapman in his Torana had a .009 RT and from there it was all over for me.

Paul’s  day in the Porsche also ended in the 1st Round after a .05 red light, he was disappointed after some great RT’s in qualifying (.004 & .002) to go out on a red light.

Al Rawson in his Hot Rod was the only one to get past Round 1. His car is now well sorted and running consistent 9.70’s on Powerplus 106+. After getting to the 1/4 finals, the modified drivers decided the track was too cold and called it a night. So a good result for Al.

Gunnedah is our next outing on 3-4 August, this is always a good weekend and I am already thinking about Terry’s Pizza!

More pictures are up on Steve’s page – Steve Thomas Photography. Tiny bit of footage below from the Torana, Al’s Porsche and Al Rawson’s Hot Rod.
