TORANA TEST RUNS AT GUNNEDAH DRAGS BUT STORM ENDS MEETING BEFORE IT BEGINS

Gunnedah Drag Racing – 1/8th Mile
15-16th March 2014

After a longer than planned rebuild we finally had the Torana ready for its first run, so off to Gunnedah we went. Saturday’s first run was all good but no traction (as expected). On the second run I made the end but slight miss and smoke from engine, upon inspection a number of rocker shafts had cracked at centre bolt so onto the trailer for the Torana.

From there it was time to help Al and Steve as well as relaxing, between killing flies!

Sunday – Arrived early and set-up then just relaxed waiting for qualifying to start, unfortunately the wind sprung up and we had to tie down tents and anything that could blow away. Then just as the last of qualifiers was run, rain appeared on the horizon and within 10 minutes it was blowing a gail and pouring rain. Everyone then scrambled to pack up.
Once again a good weekend despite the rockers and rain, I look forward to May. Thank you to TDRA.

P.S It seems that incorrect rocker mounting bolts with incorrect shoulder length (too short) on centre bolts has allowed movement and caused failure. Next run will be Round 2 at Sydney Dragway as unfortunately not going to be ready for Round 1 this weekend.

Let us know what you think!
