AEROFLOW SPORTSMAN DRAG RACING CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2

Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship – Round 2
South Coast Raceway, Portland VIC – January 5-6 2013

Where the Octane meets the Ocean… Our first ever 1/8mile championship event! What a great little venue, congratulations to all the staff at the track. Taking into account this is a club run track, all concerned should be proud – a great track, event and the professional approach. It was great, we were welcomed on arrival and the hospitality continued right on through until we left the track, many thanks.

This track was going to be a great challenge to us as we have not competed at a 1/8 track before. After Saturdays qualifying we grabbed 2nd position running a 7.042 on a 7.00 cut off.
Sundays 1st round we dialed in a 7.100 racing Daniel Stubbs on a 7.50. We ran a 7.232 to a 7.59 – Stubbs taking the win. A great tight race at the end of the track. Unfortunately no points gained for the championship.

The team gained great experience though for future 1/8 rounds. We found the 1/8 at Portland exciting and fast (our fastest 60fts recorded). Smiles all round in camp!
