AEROFLOW SPORTSMAN DRAG RACING CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 3

Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship – Round 3
Pro Series 1000
Adelaide International Raceway, SA – February 23-24 2013

Arriving a week early for this round we tested the Sunday before. I’m glad we did as we could acclimatize and get comfortable on the track. A 40 degree day got three early runs in, all within a tenth of 11.100. As the day got hotter so did the car and I. Our 1st experience of vapour locking fuel, caused from extreme under bonnet temps, made our next two runs invalid. Time to pack up and hit the showers. A great track surface and to run consistent wasn’t a problem here.

Saturday 23rd – Hot conditions again, which proved to be a tough weekend for all at track. We achieved 2nd position in qualifying with a 11.038.

Sunday 24th – Another hot one! Water and shade were the order for the day. Our 1st round win came to us by the way of a red light. 2nd round we dialed a 11.100 to a 11.29 Mark Phillips. We lost on a dual break out, Mark was the least. A great race at the finish post, congrats to Mark who went to the finals and came runner up in this event. Mark Phillips is on 1st place in championship, congrats. We are in 4th position and we’ll see everyone at the Nitro Champs in Sydney in May for Round 5.

In closing thank you to Rino and all the track staff and officials for a great weekend under trying and extreme conditions. Rino has been outstanding in giving Adelaide a drag strip after many years of no facility at all. Keep up the good work mate! We went across to support this track and Rino. Many Thanks.
