DALE AUSTIN AT THE TROY BAYLISS CLASSIC

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the Powerplus Fuel for this major Dirt Track meeting: Troy Bayliss Classic 18th January 2014. With 195 riders and over 6500 spectators making it the biggest Dirt Track meeting for many years and organisers have already started working on next year’s event. Some of the riders included: Australian and International Champions like Jason Crump, Chris Vermeulen, Jamie Stauffer, Gary McCoy and many more.

With practice starting at 10am and last race finishing around 10pm spectators had the chance to walk the pits, get signatures of the stars and receive merchandise. I gave out stickers to all the kids that walked past and brochures to many people interested in the Powerplus product. I am the only local girl rider around this area (mid north coast) and this event produced a full grid of 12 ladies, which is rare to see on oil tracks. The media for this event was huge with prior and post video, photo and news coverage. I have included a few photos to show you the day’s proceedings and how I promoted Powerplus Racing Fuels.

As u can see from the photos the day was huge with not only Australian and International champions in the main event class but the women’s class also featured champions from all motorcycle disciplines including motocross – Megan Rutledge and endurance rider – Tayla Jones who won the event. In the first 2 races I finished in 4th place, in the 3rd race with a great start I was coming 2nd for 2 of the 4 laps but was passed by Megan Rutledge and Jess Shepard after a wrong gear change and ended up 4th. The final race was about to start but with a delay on the gate I had a bad start so I tried gaining place but was too hot into the first corner and next thing I knew I was on the ground wondering where my bike was, only to hear I was disqualified from the race.  I received 7th place from the 12 ladies.

I spent a few days in Newcastle Hospital with bleeding on the brain and a broken scaphoid. Since then I’ve had surgery on my broken wrist which is in a cast until 10th march and I have another appointment for a CT scan.

Thank you again for the fuel and look forward to your continued support. Can’t wait to get back on the bike.

Dale Austin
